State police say a 17-year-old driver will face reckless driving charges for a weekend wreck that killed a Pittsylvania County teen. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on Crane Road, near the community of Witt. Thirteen-year-old Tyler Michael Perow died in the crash. He was a student at Tunstall Middle School.

A man who was performing maintenance work along Route 29 in Pittsylvania County is now in the hospital after being hit by a driver. State Police say 35-year-old Miguel Angel Zacarias Ipina of Winterville, North Carolina was picking up trash along Route 29, near Route 643 Monday morning. Police say around 11:45 a.m., 48-year-old James Lee Wainwright was driving north on Route 29 when he drove off the road, hit a guardrail, then struck Ipina before crashing into a parked pickup truck. Wainright has been charged with reckless driving.
