In action for death of pedestrian who was struck by motorist approaching from left while pedestrian was standing in middle of street to permit passing of another motorist approaching from pedestrian’s right, evidence was insufficient to show that death was proximately caused by negligence of motorist approaching from right. Thornton v. Downes,77 Va. 451, 14 S.E.2d 345 (1941).

A motorist who drives faster than he should drive into a cloud of dust, in a snowstorm, or in face of blinding headlights is required, under such circumstances, in exercise of ordinary care, to increase his diligence to avoid injury to anyone who may be on highway in front of him. Yellow Cab Corp. of Abingdon v. Henderson, 78 Va. 207, 16 S.E.2d 389 (1941).
